How To Make a Snow Globe
You Will Need
  • A glass jar with a lid
  • A small, rust-proof ornament or figurine
  • White glitter
  • Aquarium silicone sealant
  • Distilled water
  • 1/8 tsp. glycerin
  • A small block of wood or bowl for a base
  • One hard-boiled white eggshell, ground into tiny pieces
  • Food coloring

Steps
step 1Select a jar
Find a small, clear glass jar with a secure lid.
step 2Find a figurine
Select something to put inside the jar, like an ornament, a figurine, or a miniature toy. Or sculpt your own decoration out of clay. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s waterproof.
step 3Measure the snow
Measure the white glitter you’ll need for the globe by pouring it into the lid. Set aside enough glitter to fill the lid.
step 4Secure the scene
Glue the decoration to the inside of the jar’s lid using aquarium silicone sealant. Let it dry for at least 12 hours.
step 5Fill with water
Slowly pour distilled water into the jar until it almost reaches the top.
tip You can grind hard-boiled white eggshell into fine pieces and use that in place of glitter.
step 6Add glitter
Add the glitter and one-eighth of a teaspoon of glycerin to the jar.
step 7Attach the lid
Screw the lid onto the jar, turn it over, and give it a shake. Add more glitter if needed.
tip Add a drop or two of food coloring if you’d like.
step 8 width=Seal the lid
Squeeze a thin layer of silicone sealant on the threads of the lid before screwing it on tightly.
step 9Display it
Glue your snow globe to a base, like a wood block or small, upside-down bowl. Ta-da! You’ve made a snow globe.
